Preparing for a Dental Exam at the Office of Dr. Wendy Willoughby, DDS

dental exam

Most people understand that dental health is important. That’s why they schedule regular visits at the office of Dr. Wendy Willoughby, DDS for a dental exam. However, having a successful dental visit involves more than just making the appointment and showing up. There are a lot of steps that you can take before your dentist appointment to make sure you are getting the most out of it.

If it is your first time visiting our office in Asheville, you want to have your old dental records on hand, or at least have those transferred to our office from your old dentist’s office. Having your old dental records transferred will go a long way in helping you have an effective, smooth dental visit at our office.

Going to the dentist, or any medical office for that matter, can be a bit overwhelming if you arrive at the office late or if you feel rushed. For this reason, it’s a good idea to plan to come a little bit early. This will allow you to fill out any forms that you will need to complete, relax and become familiar with the office and staff.

Before talking to our dentist, make a mental outline of the dental problems that are concerning you. Write down any dental problems you had in the last six months, even if the problem is not affecting you currently. This will allow you to get the most out of your dental exam. It will also save you the hassle of needing to make an emergency visit when a problem that could have been caught during your scheduled dental visit is overlooked.

It is important that you are honest when talking with our dentist. She may ask you some questions that you might feel embarrassed to answer. For example, she might ask you how often the floss. If you don’t floss at all, do not try to hide this from our dentist by saying that you floss every day. Not only will our dentist know that this is not true, but withholding important information could also put your dental health at risk.

The office of Dr. Wendy Willoughby, DDS is staffed by trained professionals who are eager to help you get the most out of your dental visit. By taking some steps to plan ahead for your dental exam at our office in Asheville, you can make sure that your visit is everything it needs to be. Some of our popular procedures include pinhole surgical techniques, gum rejuvenation, implants over dentures and CEREC one-day crowns. Contact us today to schedule a dental appointment!
